VIDEO: Aston Martin Rapide
With the Rapide recently making it’s official debut, it has been good seeing how the car made the transition from concept to production. It is undoubtedly the best looking vehicle in the new genre of luxury four-door coupes.
Aston Martin calls it “the most elegant four-door sports car in the world,” and I would tend to agree with that.
The Rapide is a true sportscar, and therefore we want to know how it drives, not just how it looks. Aston Martin has helped a little bit with that, releasing a new video of the Rapide on the road.
It isn’t just simple driving footage though -- it shows the Rapide lapping the famous Nurburgring racetrack in Germany and Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps. Stelvio Pass has been named the greatest driving road in the world by Top Gear.

Tony, some good looking shots in the video, but he music does not go with the car, they should have something better to listen to, that matches the car.
I’m gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you, there, Austin. :)
I think the music is the perfect match. Strong classical backbone with modern, technological rhythm and tempo. It’s expansive and sweeping, evocative of contemporary super heroes leaping buildings in single bounds, overtaking the proverbial speeding bullet, and saving the day.
The Rapide is not the millionaire playboy’s street fighter. It’s not the well-appointed race car that’s driven like a large Mercedes saloon. No, I think the Rapide is the Aston Martin for those who appreciate the tradition of AM performance, handling, and refinement, but who would like something a bit more functional that won’t be so disappointing to see cruising the boulevard like it owns the place.
There was a time when, if I were to be asked what car I would run right out and buy if I suddenly found a million dollars under my couch cushions, I would immediately reply “Aston Martin DBR.” That time came to an end about five minutes ago, when this video started.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go shake the ever-lovin’ shit outta my couch. I’m about $175,998 short at the moment.
I just LOVE the Aston Martin Rapide……definitely would have to be my favorite of the lineup right now. That and the DB9.
