Tesla Delivers 500th Roadster
Tesla Motors has been scoring some big successes lately. From the excellent Model S unveiling and subsequently large order list, to the Daimler investment and now even more success in delivering the Roadster.
Tesla’s goal after the last funding round was to ramp up production significantly so that profitability on the cars could be reached by mid-summer. From the comments made by CEO Elon Musk and the clip of Roadster deliveries, they look on track to hit that goal.
To that end, Tesla has delivered it’s 500th Roadster. This a big milestone for the company and the electric car industry. Some speculated whether the car would ever even to make it to production at all, especially with the delays and financial troubles that plagued the company.
Owner of the 500th Roadster is New Jersey philanthropist and former chairman/CEO of Interpool. He currently is the chairman of The Tuchman Foundation and a board member of The Parkinson’s Alliance and Parkinson’s Disease Foundation of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Tuchman is also an former auto engineer. His other current cars include a 1967 Mercedes 250 and a 1993 Jaguar convertible.
Wow, this guy isn’t accomplished! *Sarcasm Alert*. He says the Roadster will be his primary commuter car and plans to charge the vehicle by solar power.

I’m personally really excited for the roadster and for the subsequent Tesla electric cars. Not because I’m in anyway able to afford one, but because what they promise for the next decade in the auto-industry. It seems like with the Tesla there is finally a viable consumer base for these electric cars which really is the requirement for their success. I hope that in 20 years our highways are filled with innovations like these. I read an interesting discussion on the matter of auto change and electric cars at pandalous.
