Jaguar XJ Officially Unveiled

Wow! The new Jaguar XJ has been officially unveiled. James covered some of the leaked pictures of the car earlier, and now the official pictures are out. I've posted about the XJ endlessly as Jaguar leaked information about the car bit by bit over the months. Renderings, spy shots, you name it - the new XJ is a huge launch for Jaguar. And now, it's finally here. Was it worth the wait? Let's find out! To me that answer is unequivocally yes! The XJ has lived up to all the expectations bestowed upon it, helping to usher in a new era for Jaguar.  The Jaguar renaissance started with the XK, followed with the XF and now is being completed with the new XJ. As predicted, the car

Jaguar XJ Spotted

Are you looking forward to the Jaguar XJ's debut? We'll get a chance to do just that in a little over a month, on July 9th.  I'm highly anticipating finally seeing the whole thing after all this waiting. Until then, more spy shots will have to suffice. Brenda Priddy & Company is happy to oblige! Jaguar decided to camouflage the vehicle as a BMW 7-Series in order to escape photography. That's interesting because Jaguar has been very lax about spy shots with the XJ, waging a smart publicity campaign ahead of the car's launch.  This instance may be a little different though because the car is much further along its development process. You want to show some but not too much. That would defeat the point, wouldn't it? So alas, the

Shanghai 2009: Jaguar XJ Teaser

Well you can't say I didn't warn you! On April 17th I wrote about AutoExpress' Jaguar XJ renderings and speculated on continued information, leaks and renderings on the car before the car's launch date. It happened: Jaguar itself has released an official teaser of the super-XJ for the Shanghai Motor Show. Jaguar presents the XJ, a view from above. We know it has a huge panaromic sunroof, and it looks like a fairly large windshield/small trunk. That would give further evidence to a XF-like fastback style similar to the recent renderings. Another thing we can tell from it? Retro is so out. Like all recent reports, the new XJ will be ultra-modern. So what else can I say about the car that hasn't already been said except

New Jaguar XJ Renderings

Naturally, people are very keen to see Jaguar's next-generation flagship XJ. As such rumors have been swirling about the car over the few months and there has been a deluge of information, including recent revelation of a ER-EV XJ in a recent report. There has been a few renderings as well, many based on the Jaguar C-XF Concept. British magazine AutoExpress has produced some renderings of the car tha should offer us a very good look at the car. Like AutoExpress said, we've been hearing about this car for months! I can't wait to see the thing finally. With these renderings, we do get to see a very good look at it, as it has been produced with insider input by a reputable news source with

Jaguar’s XJ To Follow XF

Nice? Without a doubt. But Jaguar is looking to shake things up for it's largest sedan in the same fashion as it's smaller counterpart the XF (formerly S-Type). The XF is keeping the brand alive, giving the brand the hit it needed. Sorry about the graniness; I had to increase the size of the picture as Autocar's picture was far too small. Wonder why? The design is pretty much as expected, offering a bigger take on the XF with headlights that more closely resemble the C-XF concept. If you remember back, it was a really sharp design. In fact I was quite disappointed with the production XF in comparison to the concept. Especially given Jaguar's proclamations of closeness to the production car. I expected it to be a thinly-veiled preview

Jaguar XF-R Goes After M5, E63

The long-awaited high-performance version of Jaguar's modern new mid-sized entry, the XF sedan, has been caught in various locations doing a bit of pre-debut testing, and it looks promising. The XF-R is rumored to be the first recipient of Jaguar's first all-new engine since the AJV8 debuted with the XK8 coupe in 1997.  In R trim, the 5.0L direct-injected 32 valve V8 will be fitted with the traditional Rootes-style Eaton supercharger, which will put an estimated 500 horsepower to the ground through the rear wheels via Jag's ZF-designed 6-speed automatic transmission.  While the XF-R isn't rumored to have a mechanical-style limited slip differential, expect at least an electronic brake-lock differential to keep things somewhat in check. While the final styling cues are still to be seen, you
