Ford Releases New Pics of Taurus SHO

The Taurus is back. Big time! What am I talking about, Ford as a whole is back. From the Fusion to the Fiesta, to the Taurus to the line of new products at Lincoln, Ford is undergoing a product renaissance. Couple that with the company not accepting government loans and you have a powerful combination out there in the marketplace. Ford has gotten a lot of free publicity over it's stance on the loans. Today is the launch event for Ford's Taurus SHO, a model that car enthusiasts everywhere are drooling over. Driving impressions of the model are still under embargo, but Ford thought it was fitting to release some new pictures of the car to coincide with the event. Wow! Is that good looking or what? Random Capture: Hustlin’ Taurus!

Ford's perenial family hauler, the Taurus, has never been known for provided seat-of-your-pants thrills.  That might be about to change, with the upcoming 365-bhp twin turbocharged AWD SHO.  You know I'm a fanboy.  This car is going to be epic, no matter how you look at it.  And while media testing hasn't started yet (Ford?  Test car?), AOL Autos (really?) had an opportunity to ride along in a pre-production SHO with one of Ford's Vehicle Dynamics Development Engineers, Christina Rodriguez.  On a racetrack!  Lucky! From the look of things, A) Christina knows how to throw a car around, and B) the Taurus doesn't mind being thrown around a bit!  I have to say, this is one devastatingly handsome car, which isn't something that could be said

Chicago 2009: 2010 Ford SHO Taurus

The SHO finally returns to the Taurus lineup for 2010, and it's going to be a proper storming-fast super saloon this time around.  Just by the numbers, expect this super-Taurus to leave a few astonished looks on the faces of sports car drivers all over America: 365 horsepower.  350 lb-ft of torque.  Electronic torque-sensing all-wheel-drive.  6 speed automatic with paddle shifters.  It actually sounds more like an Audi S4 than a Taurus. SHO Taurus Coming in February?

The SHO Taurus is one of the forgotten performance heroes of America's past.  It was originally a high-performance variant of the first three generations of the Taurus family sedan, which used (in early years) a Yamaha-designed 3.0L or 3.2L V6 making 220 horsepower, and later another Yamaha-designed 3.4L 32v V8 making 235bhp.  After years of flagging sales, the SHO was dropped in 1999 with the introduction of the 4th generation (rental fleet) Taurus in 2000. Well, if you are a nutcase like me, I've got news for you!  The return of the SHO has been long rumored in the industry, and come February, we'll find out if our dreams are coming true.  There's a little nugget of information hidden on Ford's Microsite for the 2010 Taurus
