Cadillac Announces New Engine, Pricing For 2012 SRX

2012CadillacSRX

Cadillac has experienced sales success with the SRX crossover, redesigned for the 2010 model year. The first-generation SRX was based on the Sigma rear-wheel drive platform, and while it received rave reviews from critics, failed to sell well. That was mostly attributed to styling. Overall, a more mainstream approach has paid off for Cadillac - SRX is now the second best-seller in its segment, with a 71 percent conquest rate. For 2012, Cadillac is making further changes to streamline the car to better suit the market's tastes. The expensive 2.8-liter turbocharged six-cylinder as well as the previous base 3.0-liter V-6 engine have been dumped. In their place is General Motors' direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 making 308-horsepower. Cadillac says it has the most standard power in its class. Other, more

LA 2010: Saab Unveils Production 9-4x

It's good to see signs of life at Saab after everything they've gone through recently. Cadillac SRX Pricing Announced

Even in the midst of all the financial turmoil and bankruptcy talk at General Motors, product launches are still continuing as usual. Two of those are the Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon and the SRX crossover. The SRX promises to be a very important launch for Cadillac, as the luxury crossover segment is high in volume and highly competitive. At $34, 155, all indications lead to the SRX being a top tier competitor. Given that Cadillac needs something extra to get on buyer's shopping lists, will that price be enough to woo buyers? It's definitely on the lower end of the spectrum for the segment. Comparing with it's competition, the only one lower is Mercedes Benz's GLK two wheel drive crossover, starting  at $33,900. That new sticker price

Detroit 2009: 2010 Cadillac SRX

Cadillac's largely-ignored midsize SUV, the SRX, is finally getting updated next year, replacing the current SRX that's been in production since 2004. However, this isn't just a new taillights-and-rhinoplasty job:  for 2010, the SRX shifts from GM's Sigma platform (shared with the CTS sedan) to a new bespoke platform, which is a combination of Theta (Saturn VUE, Chevrolet Equinox) and Epsilon II (Vauxhall/Opel Insignia).  The old SRX was more of a tall station wagon in appearance, but the new one is a fully modern looking midsize crossover, with fully modern underpinnings. Visually, the new SRX is leaps and bounds more coherent than the old model.  The roofline gracefully tapers back towards the end, creating a smooth thick C-pillar, while the angularity of the window frame below provides
