RUF Debuts the eRUF Stormster

While Porsche decides whether or not to produce an electric 911, German company RUF Automobile GmbH has taken matters into it's own hands. In October 2008, the company debuted the eRUF "Greenster" 911. They are expanding the eRUF line now with a new model, the Stormster - this time based on the Cayenne. The original, the Greenster is supposedly going into a limited production run says RUF. No Greensters have been delivered yet, but RUF is still intent on getting its next model out there, presumably to gauge interest. The changes start with the exterior - that doesn't look like your usual Cayenne. RUF developed the special body kit that takes cues from the 911, but the electric conversion will be available looking like a standard Cayenne as

Intitial Porsche Panamera Sales Are Impressive

Often vehicles that are much derided on the Internet and by automotive pundits had proven to be very successful. Best example? BMW's Bangle-created design language, which powered BMW to more success than ever. Current cars getting a lot of criticism include Honda's recent CrossTour and no doubt, the Porsche Panamera. Automotive News is reporting that the ordering process for the Panamera has been opened up, with initial orders being very strong. According to North America Chief Operating Officer Michael Bartsch, Porsche has gotten 968 firm orders for the sedan and it is helping boost traffic numbers in showrooms. Those kind of order figures for an expensive sedan like the Panamera in the current state of the economy is very good. It is a testament to the power of the Porsche

Porsche Cayman Shooting Brake Revealed?

With Porsche's continued drive to increase it's model lineup, there has been a lot of speculation about what is next. Boxster, Cayenne, Panamera - each car got successively harder for Porsche purists to swallow. A 928 GT is rumored to be in the works (which I am 100% in favor of) as well as a Panamera cabriolet. But what about a Cayman shooting brake? Certainly would make an for a unique entry in the sportscar world today. There has been pictures of the car caught on cell-phone cameras but now there is a new picture of the car in clear view. Real or not? Let's take a look. A shooting brake is a 2-door, sporty wagon. Might seem like an oxymoron -  but it doesn't have to be.

Porsche Panamera Production Starts

Well well well, after years of development and much spirited debate production of the Porsche Panamera has started at it's Leizpig factory. The Porsche Cayenne is also produced at the same factory. How fitting, huh? Two extremely controversial vehicles in Porsche's history, both produced at one plant. Oddly enough, these two vehicles may prove to be some of the most successful for Porsche.  Porsche plans to sell 20,000 units per year of the Panamera. We'll see if they hit that goal or not. Definitely pre-recession I think that was a sure thing, I think they still have pretty good chances of hitting their goal anyway, just due to the Porsche name and a desire for a 4-door model from the company. I am looking forward to seeing the Panamera in

MAFF Muron Porsche Cayenne

As if the Porsche Cayenne SUB wasn't already outrageous enough, a tuner from Romania, MAFF, is tweaking things further with their latest creation the MAFF Muron Porsche Cayenne. Most of the changes to this vehicle are evident in the interior where a lot of work has been done to differentiate the vehicle from it's standard counterpart. You've got to love some of the different creations tuners produce. They really help to liven up the automotive world. I have never been a huge fan of the standard Porsche Cayenne's look and the MAFF Muron doesn't really make things any better from my standpoint. They weren't going to be able to much about that fact without a transformative coachbuilding job. I actually did quite like the styling of the original, first generation Cayenne that proceeded this current one though. The

Two of the wildest custom auto design houses based in Germany are about to debut two of their newest styling proposals at the Geneva Motor Show which opens up March 3rd.
