Supercar Sightings: Lotus and The Lotus Evora IPS

The 2011 Lotus Evora IPS

Sometimes staying up late on a Saturday night is a good thing. The thing about living in Malaysia is that there are many food stalls and car washes open till the wee hours of the morning. This means that one can actually enjoy having coffee or tea Al fresco whilst having their car washed. So we did just that last weekend and so did a lot of others. And amazingly at about two o’clock in the morning while we were winding down our session to head home, we saw a Lotus Evora drive by into the car wash beside us. It isn’t often you get to see one in the flesh over here. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and those Japanese performance cars are everywhere in Malaysia’s capital Kuala

Lotus Evora by Mansory Coming to Geneva

LotusEvorabyMansoryFrontSide

Tuning companies typically specialize in the outrageous, but Mansory has been known particularly for its over-the-top distastefulness. It has been toning it down a little bit lately though, with models like the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. Lotus has chosen to work in partnership with Mansory to bring a customized Evora to the Geneva Auto Show. The Evora is already one good-looking mid-engined sportscar, but the Mansory collaboration actually manages to make it more desirable. Imagine that! Reports have been circulating that Lotus planned a facelift for the Evora to make it more aggressive. Those in fact were likely referencing the Mansory Evora, which looks more aggressive. Lotus is aiming to use the Evora to show the possibilities of customization. From the factory, the Evora is pretty sedate

Lotus Delivers First American Evora

Lotus has been best known in recent years for going back to the basics with the Elise. Low, light-weight and with go-kart like handling, it has certainly revitalized the brand. It did that with the Esprit in the earlier part of its production life, but rumors are swirling about a potential revival of the car. Enough of that though, last year Lotus introduced the Evora, a new mid-engined car that is far more refined than the Elise. We really like it - it looks fantastic and is a less-expensive exotic. What's not to like? For a one Bruce Rice, nothing. He is the first owner of the new Evora in the United States,

With the Evora playing a big part of Lotus' future, the sports car brand decided to release some new images the company's flagship (for now, until the Esprit comes). These new pictures are much better than some of the earlier studio shots we've seen of the car. Check out some of our favorites below.

Lotus Evora Pricing Announced

Lotus is busy making plans to reenter the exotic car market with the possibility of a new Esprit supercar. Before that though, Lotus has to tend to its latest launch, the Evora. The Evora is a step further into the exotic direction for Lotus, slotting above the Elise. The Lotus Evora has already gone on sale in the United Kingdom and some other European markets, and production for those markets has already been started. Production for North America is due to start soon, and Lotus reports that the first two months of Evora production have already been sold out. That is before any promotion here (the Evora has only been here twice). That is going to change though with a U.S promotional tour that begins this Friday, November
