All I Want For Christmas Is A Twin Turbo Jeep

HPE800-2

The latest high-tech Supercar has all the numbers.  800 horsepower.  0-60 in 3.1 seconds.  A 7.0L engine, all wheel drive, and 15.1" Brembo 6-piston brakes up front.  Thing is, it's not some low-slung 2-seater styled by Pininfarina.  It's a Jeep Grand Cherokee - with a few modifications by Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE.) Called the HPE800, it's based on the new-shape Grand Cherokee SRT8.  The new SRT is a pretty badass vehicle by itself: a 6.4L V8 with 465 horsepower, 0-60 in under 5 seconds, variable dampers and huge brakes, it's a remarkably well-rounded package - except for the gas mileage.  But if you're buying an SRT-8 for gas mileage, you're probably confused. Hennessey's engineers start by boring the block from 6.4L (392ci) to 7.0L (426ci.)  Then they

Video: Hennessey Venom GT’s 70-215 MPH Run

02-hennessey-venom-gt

If insanity is your thing, than the Hennessey Venom GT is for you. The famous tuner created a bona fide super car last year by taking the Lotus Exige and giving it a heavy reworking. Heavy reworking as in a 6.2-liter LS7 V-8 engine sourced from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The engine produces 1,200 horsepower once Hennessey is done adding twin-turbochargers to it. This is quite unlike any Lotus you have ever seen, we assure you. Weight checks in at around 2,685 pounds, and that makes for some pretty incredible performance. To prove just how incredible of performance, Hennessey released this video showing the Venom GT on a stunning 10-second run from 70 to 215 (!) mph. You can check out video of that below,

Hennessey Introduces VelociRaptor SUV and APV

Hennessey Performance Engineering is a tuning company known best for its outrageous creations. Modified, blown versions of existing sportscars - vehicles such as the Viper Venom 1000 and others. However, they also have a range of performance upgrades for a variety of vehicles, as well as offering their APV (armored performance vehicle) line. Their newest creation is the VelociRaptor SUV - based on the hottest truck out there today, Ford's Raptor. If you've read articles on the Raptor here at CarThrottle, you would know we are all quite big fans. Recently, Ford expanded the model's appeal even more with the addition of a Super Crew model that adds a second set of doors. Hennessey isn't content to just stop there though, using that model as a springboard

Hennessey Venom GT: The 725bhp V8 Lotus Elise

VGT-1

John Hennessey is obviously the modern-day Carroll Shelby. And while Shelby may have one foot in the grave (not two), it's obvious that the Texas-based tuner is stepping up to take over where ol' Shel left off.  For one thing, HPE is perhaps the most reputable tuner when it comes to extracting huge, reliable horsepower out of domestic cars (along with a few foreigners, like HPE's Nissan GT-R "Godzilla".)  They'll sell you a Camaro with a 725bhp tweaked LS9 supercharged V8 out of the ZR-1, and it's such a clean conversion that an OBD scanner will have no problem pulling codes.  Oh, and it's got a warranty.  How about a Cadillac CTS-V that will do 186mph in the standing mile?  Or maybe a 1000+bhp twin-turbocharged

2010 Hennessey Z700

The Corvette is a performance vehicle that has been an enduring icon. In it's current generation, GM has chosen to take the car even beyond it's usual level of performance. Normally the Z06 has been the highest-end Corvette model. Enthusiasts wanted more though and GM saw the money-making (and image making) potential of giving it to them. Blue Flame, SS - many names were thrown around, with the result being ZR1. ZR1 is a name that has been used for two generations of Corvette production, C3 and C4 (current generation is C6). I never thought SS would be a good one - Chevrolet has devalued the performance value of the name with all the undeserving cars it is has stuck the badge on. With that as the

Hennessey V700 Adds MORE Power To CTS-V

Hennessey Performance Engineering, world-renowned at adding more power to already muscular cars, now turns their sights to the new Cadillac CTS-V. They've released a line of tuning packages for Cadillac's hotter-than-hot Nurburgring smashing sedan ranging from 600 up to 800 horsepower.  Details on these monster Caddies after the jump. The base CTS-V isn't really anything to cough at in the first place.  Powered by a derivative of the almighty Corvette ZR-1's LS9, called the LSA, this pushrod 6.2L supercharged V8 makes a more-than-adequate 556bhp, along with 549 lb-ft of torque.  This translates to around 510 horsepower at the wheels, and 0-60 runs under 4 seconds with manual or automatic transmission. The basic HPE upgrade, called V600, consists of a remapped ECU as well as some mechanical alterations.

Hennessy Introduces ZR700 Package for ZR1 ‘Vette

If you're a highly imbalanced individual who owns a ZR1 Corvette, there's good news!  Since 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque in a 3400lb car clearly isn't enough, Texas tuner extraordinaire Hennessey Motorsports has come out with two new tuning kits for the supercharged LS9 'Vette. The kit  includes the basic upgrades for a supercharged engine.  The 4-lobe Eaton supercharger is cranked from 11 psi to 14psi via a smaller-diameter drive pulley (which increases the speed of the blower) as well as a reworked intake duct for better flow. Heat is battled with a larger air-to-water intercooler core, and exhaust gases exit through free-flowing 1 7/8" stainless mandrel-bent headers, midpipes and high-flow catalysts.  Hennessey also recalibrates the ECU to accommodate the changes, and fits a K&N air

Hennessey Adds Nissan GT-R Tuning Package

For those of you out there lucky enough to have acquired one of the all-conquering Nissan GT-R's and insane enough to want it to be even faster, there is hope!  American tuning firm Hennessey, famous for their insane twin-turbo conversions for the V10-powered Dodge Viper sports car, is now offering a "Godzilla 600" package for the heavyweight Nissan. Parts in the kit include a new induction kit, a new exhaust from the downpipes rearward, a new boost controller, new wastegate actuators, a larger air-to-air intercooler (heat exchanger) and Hennessey's ECU reprogramming to take advantage of these mechanical upgrades.  The company claims this kit bumps the output of the GT-R from a stock output of 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft (580nM) to a more substantial 600 horsepower and
