Geneva 2009: Second Opel Ampera Teaser

Even with the future of the Opel (and Vauxhall and Saab and....) brand in doubt, new releases keep on coming. One set for the Geneva Show is the Ampera, a car we've seen teased and leaked recently. Now comes another official "teaser" from GM that reveals the entire front of the car. Well, there it is! As you can clearly see, it's based on the Volt but with some changes that I think, make a big difference. The Ampera follows a similar frontal styling pattern that has been displayed on recent Opel concepts like the GTC and Flextreme. It's fitting that the look would be debuted for production on an advanced production car like the Ampera. Others have commented that the Ampera looks better then the Volt, and I'm inclined to

Geneva 2009: Protoscar LAMPO

Look out Tesla Roadster! Or not? According to Switzerland based Protoscar, this one is just a showcar. It doesn't seem to be too far off though from production judging by the images. We'll have to see once the show rolls around. In the meantime, the information we do know is below. The information supplied by the company is a bit haphazard. The car's 32 kilowatt-hour battery pack, supplied by partner BRUSA Elektronik AG has a range of 200 k/mh (or 125 miles).  We don't know whether or not this is destined for production, I suppose there's more on that to car.  Protoscar bills themselves "CleanCar Shapers". Hmm, interesting. The car is a collaborative effort with Protoscar SA and it's many partners, some of which include BRUSA Elektronik AG, ALPIQ, BASF, and Q-11.  It appears that the car is based on General Motors's

Geneva 09: Koenigsegg Releases The Quant Teaser

Drip, drip, drip. Hear that? That's the sound of leaks. Now some more new information drops, this time from Switzerland, by away of specialty manufacturer Koenigsegg, who released a teaser of it's upcoming supercar dubbed "The Quant". There it is, that's about all we know on the new supercar from Koenigsegg. Unique name too, "The Quant". Unlike some other releases we've seen, no details have surfaced in recent months regarding a new vehicle from the company. The design is menacing and hunkered down; it projects an strikingly modern look that represents a departure for the brand. I'm interesting in learning whether or not it's a production vehicle. I hope it is! Koenigsegg has other things in store for the Geneva Show as well, including a new infotainment system for it's current offering the CCX

Geneva 09: Embargo Broken on 200EX (aka RR4) Concept

First there was an just a small official teaser of the front end on the 200EX released by Rolls-Royce. Now The Daily Telegraph has broken the embargo entirely, opening up the floodgates of information on Rolls-Royce's newest model. Say hello to the 4th and newest model in the Rolls-Royce range, dubbed the 200EX . As expected, it's style hews close to the Phantom. It was never intended to break new styling ground. For all intents and purposes, it's mission is is to serve as a less excessive, mini-Phantom. In comparison with the Phantom, the 200EX's design is less upright, with a more sweptback look from front to back. Viewed from the front espessially, the car is a bit sleeker and more dynamic. I like the area sunken in for the headlights; it looks

Citroen DS3 Inside Images Surface!

Well, that was fast! Only a few days after the revelation of a new Citroen DS Lineup comes the breaking of the embargo on the Citroen DS3 Inside by Germany's Autobild magazine. Set to be unveiled in Geneva, this should break open the information floodgates on this model in the days to come. Well, let's just say that while I was really hoping for something spectacular, I was expecting something similar to what we're getting. The DS3 doesn't offer a stylistic throwback of any sort to the original, pioneering DS. It seems as Citroen could have put more effort into creating something truly unique. Name aside, it is a upscale small car that is charming and inoffensive. The the styling letdown on the DS3 has everything to do with it's name.
