Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Spotted

With the latest generation of the CTS, Cadillac has set forth on expanding the model lineup to it's proper size. While the first-generation was successful in revitalizing the brand, the sedan model wasn't followed up with coupe, convertible or wagon models. Successful companies create strong brands and models, then build off of them. The CTS is an impressive product, and this time it is being followed up with a coupe and wagon. Convertible? Maybe they're saving that for the third generation. Regardless, right now the news is about the V performance models. The CTS coupe isn't even out in full force yet and spy shots are already surfacing of the V model testing. The CTS-V sedan has acquitted itself very well against peers and is an excellent model. Given the capability of

Cadillac CTS-V Sportwagon To See Light of Day

Performance fans, wagon fans, Cadillac fans, crazy dads who want to lug around kids in a 550 horsepower (check!) wagon - take notice, your car is coming. Initially, the CTS debuted as only a sedan, and then the CTS-V performance variant was introduced. For it's second generation, while debuting as a sedan first, Cadillac saw the error of it's ways and developed coupe and wagon variants as well. With the two on it's way, people got to dreaming about V performance variants of the two new variants. Bob Lutz even said members of the Automotive Task Force expressed interest in the CTS-V Coupe. To me, that was a no brainer - how could you not build a CTS-V coupe? A CTS-V Sportwagon was less certain though -

Good (And Bad) News from Cadillac

A lot of General Motors news has been coming out lately and it's been hard to keep up with it all. GM recently invited a group of consumers and journalists to come to the company's Technical Center to preview the models that the "New GM" has in the pipeline. Attendees weren't allowed to be really descriptive in terms of styling but we've got some big confirmations on what is coming. There is bad and (really) good news. Let's start off with the bad news: the apparently-FWD Cadillac DTS replacement does exist, wearing XTS and XTS4 designations that indicate the car will be made available with all-wheel drive. As I've said before, the fact that it is front-wheel drive is a major disappointment for what is supposed to

Lutz: CTS-V Coupe Coming

While Bob Lutz dashed a lot of hopes about a RWD Chevrolet Caprice sedan, he did offer an important confirmation of new product for Cadillac. The CTS is one of the most impressive vehicles in it's segment, and the V-Series performance version has been billed as the world's most powerful performance sedan. Until recently (and it isn't confirmed for certain as of yet) it has held the title for world's fastest production sedan around Germany's Nurburgring race track. With variants of the CTS sedan complete, a coupe CTS is going on sale next year, after being shown at the Detroit Auto Show in concept form. With the incredible performance capabilities of the CTS-V sedan, why not extend that to the coupe as well? It deserves it! Despite the seemingly obvious answer to us, it wasn't certain whether or not the model would

Hennessey V700 Adds MORE Power To CTS-V

Hennessey Performance Engineering, world-renowned at adding more power to already muscular cars, now turns their sights to the new Cadillac CTS-V. They've released a line of tuning packages for Cadillac's hotter-than-hot Nurburgring smashing sedan ranging from 600 up to 800 horsepower.  Details on these monster Caddies after the jump. The base CTS-V isn't really anything to cough at in the first place.  Powered by a derivative of the almighty Corvette ZR-1's LS9, called the LSA, this pushrod 6.2L supercharged V8 makes a more-than-adequate 556bhp, along with 549 lb-ft of torque.  This translates to around 510 horsepower at the wheels, and 0-60 runs under 4 seconds with manual or automatic transmission. The basic HPE upgrade, called V600, consists of a remapped ECU as well as some mechanical alterations.

Cadillac’s Sub-CTS To Use FWD Epsilon II Platform

Things are looking tough for the General lately. Yes, and bears do their business in the woods.  Half of their divisions are leaving or ceasing to exist, budget cuts must happen, and money needs to be made.  So while the decisions GM (and the Obama administration) makes might not gel with the enthusiast, you can bet they're going to be economically viable. The latest depressing news is that the upcoming small Cadillac, which is to slot below the CTS in the Cadillac lineup, will not be based on the new Alpha Rear-wheel-drive platform, but rather the current Epsilon II platform.  While Epsilon II cars have been well-reviewed by the press (Vauxhall/Opel Insignia, primarily) a front-wheel-drive Cadillac is iffy at best.  It will be less expensive to produce

Cadillac Developing Model to Slot Below CTS

One of the guaranteed (well, anything's possible but...) brands to remain regardless of what happens with GM would be Cadillac. GM's iconic brand is most definitely pivotal to the future of the company. With just 4 brands, there is the potential Cadillac could get the much-deserved investment that it needs to move forward. Think about it, 8 brands? Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hummer, Saab, Saturn. That's a lot of different product strategies and development dollars to spread around. With 4 brands and 3 really (GMC can do a lot of sharing with Chevrolet) with unique products, this could be a could time for Cadillac. The CTS mid-size sedan has been successful but it's clear something needs to be done to expand the brand's model lineup and

Cadillac To Offer In-Car WiFi in CTS

Remember when people fantasized about in-car internet? I remember it being a topic people would discuss. Well, that day has arrived. Chrysler was one of the first (if not the first) to offer it as an option, but Cadillac is hot on the heels with an announcement of a system of it's own. According the press release, demonstrations of the system in action will start next month at the New York International Auto Show. Dubbed Cadillac Wi-Fi (thankfully not some tortured marketing name), it uses technology from a company called AutoNet Mobile. They're the first Internet Service Provider dedicated to offering internet in cars. The system turns the inside of the car into wireless hotspot, and it can be used with any device on any platform. That means
