Cadillac and competitive racing are perhaps not two words that are normally associated with one another. However, the brand has participated in the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge in the past. And it did so quite successfully in fact, winning the Manufacturer's Championship in 2005 and 2007, along with the Driver's Championship in 2005. The brand's current CTS-V series lineup has been critically lauded for its performance chops. Cadillac's stunning CTS Coupe was introduced in concept form at the 2008 North American International Auto Show and was quickly approved for production. For the current generation of the CTS, Cadillac is doing it right with multiple variants - sedan, coupe and wagon. Not only that, the highly regarded V performance series is available on each of the three model variations as well. With the Coupe on its way to showrooms in August, it was time to release pricing. The North American International Auto Show has been wrapped up (for the press anyway), and perhaps the most exciting announcement to performance enthusiasts was the introduction of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. There was a bit of wondering about whether a V model was coming (not for long though) but it is here, and yes it is production! James covered it when it broke cover before the show. While Chevrolet gets a lot of the attention with the new Cruze and Volt, Cadillac's big introduction at the Los Angeles Auto Show was the CTS Coupe. It was shown to journalists yesterday in a special event ahead of the start of the show. Some great live pictures of the car can be found on GMInsideNews. While I can't say the same for the rest of the lineup (FWD SRX, FWD XTS - I'm looking at you), Cadillac is making smart decisions with the CTS - introducing a coupe and a wagon for this generation to complement the sedan. With the latest generation of the CTS, Cadillac has set forth on expanding the model lineup to it's proper size. While the first-generation was successful in revitalizing the brand, the sedan model wasn't followed up with coupe, convertible or wagon models. Successful companies create strong brands and models, then build off of them. The CTS is an impressive product, and this time it is being followed up with a coupe and wagon. Convertible? While Bob Lutz dashed a lot of hopes about a RWD Chevrolet Caprice sedan, he did offer an important confirmation of new product for Cadillac. The CTS is one of the most impressive vehicles in it's segment, and the V-Series performance version has been billed as the world's most powerful performance sedan. Until recently (and it isn't confirmed for certain as of yet) it has held the title for world's fastest production sedan around Germany's Nurburgring race track. One of the guaranteed (well, anything's possible but...) brands to remain regardless of what happens with GM would be Cadillac. GM's iconic brand is most definitely pivotal to the future of the company. With just 4 brands, there is the potential Cadillac could get the much-deserved investment that it needs to move forward. Think about it, 8 brands? Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hummer, Saab, Saturn. That's a lot of different product strategies and development dollars to spread around. Reveals continue on pouring on in, this time from General Motors. Hidden inside the corporation's 122 page "Viability Plan" submitted to the U.S  Treasury is an production image of the highly anticipated Cadillac CTS Coupe. The thinly-disguised CTS Concept car from the Detroit Show pretty much showed us exactly what the production version would look like. The question was how much would be changed as it translated into production. As hoped, very little has been changed in fact from the concept vehicle. The CTS's angular Art & Science style carries over very well onto a coupe body. I still love that fastback rear end!
