New Lexus Hot Hatch, Almost

With the introduction of the LFA last year, you might think that Lexus would start to make hot versions of their current line-up. So far the only sporty Lexus since the LFA has been the IS-F, but last week Lexus announced you can now order a new range topping version of their compact luxury hybrid called the CT200h F-Sport. The disappointing news is that the new CT F-Sport will not be any faster or more powerful than the standard car since there has been no change to the engine. The F-Sport will have the same 1.8L petrol unit teamed with an electric motor and a CVT gearbox, just like a Prius, that goes from standstill to 62mph in 10.3 seconds, which is not hot

Lexus Projects 12,000 CT 200h Sales a Year

Lexus CT200H F-Sport Pictured Not a whole lot has been happening at Lexus lately here in the United States. The most recent campaigns have centered around the IS Convertible and HS 250h hybrid. Based on the Toyota Corolla, we never have been big fans. Apparently, the marketplace isn't either. Billed as the world's first dedicated luxury hybrid, Lexus expected the HS to help growth with a younger demographic to the tune of 25,000 units a year. At only around 2,000 units per month, with aggressive pricing that seemed like an easy goal to reach and even exceed. We guess not as the final figure will be closer to 10,000 by the end of this year. With the flop of the HS in mind, Lexus is setting even more conservative

There was a lot of news happening this week, with the announcement of Koenigsegg's cancellation of the Saab purchase, introduction of the new 5-Series and the Cadillac CTS Coupe among them. A lot of things happened leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. Next week there promises to be a lot more, with the Los Angeles International Auto Show kicking into high gear.
