The Corvette is a performance vehicle

The Corvette is a performance vehicle that has been an enduring icon. In it’s current generation, GM has chosen to take the car even beyond it’s usual level of performance. Normally the Z06 has been the highest-end Corvette model. Enthusiasts wanted more though and GM saw the money-making (and image making) potential of giving it to them.

Blue Flame, SS – many names were thrown around, with the result being ZR1. ZR1 is a name that has been used for two generations of Corvette production, C3 and C4 (current generation is C6). I never thought SS would be a good one – Chevrolet has devalued the performance value of the name with all the undeserving cars it is has stuck the badge on.

With that as the backdrop, the Corvette ZR1 was introduced, packing an incredible 638 horsepower that made it the most powerful Corvette to date. Apparently, Hennessey thinks that isn’t enough. Enter the Z700, a package that boosts the car’s horsepower to an even more outrageous 705! That’s not all, two more packages the Z750 and Z1000 are available that boost horsepower to 750 and 1000, respectively. This is the Corvette for those who enough is never enough.

In addition, the Z700 includes carbon fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires that reduce rotating weight by nearly 60 pounds. Other carbon fiber components include Hennessey’s Z-Aero Carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spiler that over 300 lbs of down force. Inside gets carbon fiber (noticing a trend?) seats, and an Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob.

All that can be yours for only $207,150. Ouch! Hennessey plans to produce only 24 copies of the Z2700 for the 2010 model year and is giving a go at breaking the Z71′s Nürburgring lap time of 7:26. Stay tuned!
