Details on Citroen DS3 Racing Announced

Back in March (we know, it seems like a long time, doesn't it?) Citroen made a splash with its introduction of the Citroen DS3 Racing at the Geneva Auto Show. As its name implies, the DS3 Racing spiced things up significantly. We particularly liked the car's look (but then again, we're a sucker for orange). Months later, Citroen is releasing official details on the production model of this car. For starters, it will be a limited production model to create buzz and interest around the Citroen brand. Only 1,000 units will be produced, with 200 right-hand drive models destined for the United Kingdom. Orders for the car start on September 1st. Citroen says it has received over 1,500 expressions of interest in the car. Two paint schemes will be

Stunning: Pictures of the Citroen Metropolis Concept

The Citroen Metropolis Concept was introduced at the Beijing Auto Show, along with a host of other sedans like the Audi A8 L and updated Volkswagen Phaeton. In one measure though - size, the Metropolis trumps them all. The Metropolis is huge! When we last heard about it, only computer-generated renderings of the car were out. Since then, Citroen has released a ton of new images of the car. In a word, they are stunning. Citroen didn't hold back with this car, producing a sedan that looks every bit the high pricetag it will likely be offered for. No word on production, but with the Chinese luxury sedan market being so lucrative, it is definitely a strong possibility.

Citroen Metropolis Concept Surfaces

Ah, French automakers. Got to love them! The land of Bugatti (no, it isn't Italian) is also home to Citroen and Peugeot, two of the quirkiest automakers around. Who could forget the iconic 2CV or DS, the moniker of which is now being brought back for a lineup of new cars. One thing that Citroen has never really been known for is large cars. But there is a first time for everything, right? In that case, that would be with the Metropolis. The Metropolis is the first car to be designed by PSA Group’s Shanghai design studio. It looks the part of a large luxury sedan, while still remaining uniquely Citroen. If you're going to do something, do it right - and Citroen is going all out with the

200-HP Citroen DS3 Racing

Take that, John Cooper Works Mini Coopers! Or maybe not. Citroen doesn't say that their 200-HP Citroen DS3 Racing was built to directly go up against the hottest hatch in the Mini line up, but I (for one) would like to see them duke it out on the track. (No, not the street. I don't condone excess amounts of speed on the street. Nope. Not me. (Then again, "excess" is a qualitative term.).) Anyway, it seems that although Citroen intends for the DS3 to be a road car, that didn't stop them from asking the company's racing department – the same outfit that fashioned so many nasty-quick WRC-winning rally cars – to create a hotter version of the little hatchback. And so, the DS3 Racing

Citroen DS3 Racing At Geneva

Last year at this time, word just came out that Citroen was planning on bringing back the "DS" moniker for a new lineup of more premium vehicles. The first of those was the Citroen DS Inside Concept (DS3 for production), introduced at the Geneva Auto Show. Since then, there has been other "DS" concepts, including the Revolte and most recently, the DS Highrider Concept (best of the bunch). When the DS3 came out, many (including this writer) were disappointed at the lack of any homage to the original, iconic DS. It looks like we just might be able to forgive them for that after seeing the new DS3 Racing. The DS3 Racing is a limited edition model restricted to only 1,000 units. Power has been

Geneva 2010: Citroen DS Highrider Concept

I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Citroen's DS-series of cars. It's a pretty good marketing tactic- a lineup of very French  niche cars based on Citroen's somewhat dull mainstream cars that offers individuality, style, and customizability.  Plus, if the DS3 and this DS Highrider concept are anything to judge by, they are stunningly good-looking cars to boot. Now, I'm going to admit I don't know why they call it the Highrider.  Perhaps this is the French definition of long-travel suspension, and maybe the French are just strange.  It looks like a large 3-door hatchback with pretty normal ride height to me.  Citroen says it's all about the proportions and the stance, so we'll run with that.  It sort of works; considering this is about the

VIDEO: Citroen C3 Commercial

Ah, Citroen - the quirky French brand best known for cars like the 2CV and revolutionary DS. They've always had memorable advertisements to go along with their unique cars. Recent ones have featured a Transformers-like robot. No robots here! This new ad was debuted as part of Citroen's campaign for the C3, and it is designed to show off the car's new "Zenith" windscreen.  That is does! Check out the (CG-heavy) ad below. One thing is for sure - ads like this usually don't fly (you'll get that in a minute) in the United States. There's also a making of video below. httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gb5lC9U0Ao httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id9mx9ss43M

Frankfurt 2009: Citroen DS Revolte

In February of this year, word broke about Citroen bringing back the "DS" name for a new lineup of premium vehicles. The original DS was an amazing car that was far ahead of it's time - there's a lot to live up to with a name like that. Unfortunately, the first vehicle in the lineup the DS Inside hasn't been too exciting. No styling cues from the DS or revolutionary features were debuted at all. If reports are correct, there is three models in the DS group. Let's take a look at the next one, the Citroen DS Revolte. I am officially confused! These pictures have been released by Citroen of the next concept vehicle slated to be introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show. If the naming

Citroën GT To See Small Production Run

Citroën GT? What an anomaly in today's world of fuel economy regulations and a slumping (or slumped) economy! While it seems like frivolous, expensive halo projects from the mainstream automakers are being cancelled, Citroën might be going forward with one of it's own. In more ways than one - I thought Citroën was the luxury brand for PSA? - it's pretty amazing. The fact that it's even a consideration is remarkable. The history surrounding the Citroen GT (or GT by Citroën as it is sometimes called) is amazing. It was designed by Japanese designer Takumi Yamamoto who presented the design to his childhood friend Kazunori Yamachi. Yamachi is director of Polyphony Digital (creator of the Gran Turismo racing game). The design was created specifically to appear in the game but

Citroen DS Named Most Beautiful Car?

Well, there you go! No more debates on the world's most beautiful car (ha right, good luck on that one!). Classic & Sports Car magazine and it's panel of the word's top car designers have crowned it the world's most beautiful car. What a nice sendoff for Citroen's new DS launch campaign. Hmm. Pretty crazy when you think about it! The world's top designers naming a 4-Door Citroen sedan the world's most beautiful. That panel includes Giorgetto Giugiaro and Jaguar's design director Ian Callum. I think the DS is gorgeous but I'm not so sure I completely agree with that assessment. For other reasons as well it's amazing, considering it's price and prevelance over other marques like Ferrari. Overall, the Ferrari brand received the most overall votes but they
