ChevroletCamaroConvertibleFrontImage

The Los Angeles International Auto Show is coming up just next week and Chevrolet has picked the show as the perfect place to launch the new Camaro Convertible. Where better than sunny Los Angeles? Chevy spaced out introduction of the convertible model to keep up interest in the Camaro, which has sold impressively since its debut. It even came close to beating the Mustang in the sales race last year, but has since fallen behind. The Mustang has always had the benefit of a convertible model to increase appeal as well, while the Camaro and Challenger have been coupe-only. That is about to change - and we can already see the Mustang convertible vs. Camaro convertible comparison tests being lined up for next summer. The new photos aren't exactly

Neiman Marcus Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Sells Out – in Three Minutes

Neiman Marcus is a high-end luxury catalog with a diverse range of clients that are ready to purchase its products at the drop of the hat. That is true even in the automotive segment. Every year, the catalog works with a manufacturer to provide a product going into the year-end Christmas season. Last year, it was an exclusive version of the new Jaguar XJ. With only 50 available, it sold out in four hours and four minutes. We thought that was impressive - but for 2010 the Camaro Convertible handily beats that. There was 100 models of the Camaro Convertible available, and they all sold in three minutes. Whoa - that's quick. BMW's special edition M6 sold out 50 units in 2006 in one minute and 32 seconds. Phone lines for ordering the $75,000 Camaro opened a

Official Images of the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Appear on Facebook

Social media - Twitter (follow @CarThrottle), Facebook (become a fan) is the future and the automakers have recognized it. Perhaps one of the companies that has embraced it the most is the New General Motors. They have demonstrated a lot of changes going on at the company by opening up to the public on Facebook and Twitter and by reaching out to blogs. Perhaps best demonstrating that, official pictures of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible have popped up on Chevrolet's official Facebook page. This is the first production images of the convertible we have seen. Camaro, Equinox and Sonata Lead Vehicle Research

Right now, the golden children in the media are Hyundai and Ford. That isn't without reason either - both Ford and Hyundai have released a slew of competitive new products, and both manufacturers have the sales numbers to match. Some peg the Hyundai Sonata and Ford Fusion as being the new leaders of the mid-size segment. We have yet to test either to know for sure, but we would be inclined to agree. General Motors, on the other hand, has been largely flying under the radar as it has made impressive gains. The new Equinox is an extremely impressive product, and a lot of underlying data on sales for GM corporate-wide has gone unnoticed. They results are showing up with consumers. Auto Trader has just released it's automotive research data that shows

Mustang Ends 2009 “Ahead” of Camaro Sales

Over the past few months at CarThrottle, we have been posting about the sales race that has taken place between the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang. As is expected with the resurgence of the pony cars, there has been a rivalry between the two (sorry Challenger, you're left in the sales dust). Since the Camaro went on sale, it has been outselling the Mustang. Originally, it was to expected due to the Camaro's newness and pent up demand. As the year wore on though, the Camaro continued to outsell - a surprising fact, given the Mustang's historical dominance over the Camaro and widespread appeal. The crown for overall sales in 2009 still goes to the Mustang though. Why? Because the Camaro went on sale in

New Mustang V-6 Makes 305 Horsepower and 30 MPG (!)

Ford has been on a string of good news lately - the Fusion winning Car of the Year (COTY) and even profitability for the last quarter reached. The Mustang, on the other hand, has been slipping a bit with recent news about the Camaro outselling it for the past few months. Ford aims to change that with announcement of a new engine for the Mustang at this week's Los Angeles International Auto Show. The V-8 powertrains have always been where the action is at on muscle cars like the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. Particularly with the new Camaro, people looking for a good value are considering the V-6 equation more than ever before. The V-6 in the Camaro is GM's 3.6-liter unit, and a

First Impressions: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro

camaro5

Lately, one of the things you've all undoubtedly heard enough about is the Camaro. For god's sake, Chevrolet brought an entire tanker load of modified Camaros to SEMA in virtually every imaginable form.  Yenko Camaros, Camaros that look like Trans-Am's, evil Camaros, Red Camaros, there was probably a Camaro with wings. And the new Camaro has been getting a lot of press everywhere, really.  And for good reason - it's an extremely attractive car that people actually want to buy, rather than settle for, which seems to be par for the course in today's automotive market.  But all the attention is really sort of centered around the SS model, which is the high-performance one powered by the 6.2L LS3 Corvette engine.  So of course people are going

Camaro Convertible Production Gets a Date

The Chevrolet Camaro has been quite a big sales hit for General Motors. Ever since its introduction it has outsold the Mustang, a no doubt impressive feat, given the enduring popularity of the Mustang and anti-GM headwinds in the market. A Camaro Convertible Concept was shown at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, but one of the results of the financial crunch GM was in over the past year was a delay in development. The Camaro Convertible would have arrived sooner if not for that delay. Still, a large-scale public confirmation of production for the convertible Camaro has yet to be had. This one is just barely public too - as in not trumpeted. Buried in an announcement about the Buick Regal (a car that has gotten a

SEMA 2009: Jay Leno Camaro

You know you're a big name in the car industry when you have a car concept by a big manufacturer named after you. That is exactly the case with one of General Motors' Camaro concepts at SEMA, dubbed simply the Jay Leno Camaro. As expected, the Jay Leno Camaro is far more than just an appearance package being powered by the standard 3.6L direct injection V-6. Wait, what? Might have caused a double take there. The car has a pair of Turbonetics T3 turbochargers that provide about seven pounds of boost to the car's engine, making 425 horsepower along the way. To go along with the turbo system, there is a Be-Kool radiator, custom exhaust system, as well as a clutch and pressure plate supplied by Centerforce for
