With the Geneva Auto Show introductions coming out and other automotive news happening at a quick rate, Aston Martin is looking to keep the Rapide in the news. Last week, new driving footage came out and now new images are being released, joining Lotus and its picture drop on the Evora. The Rapide is a stunning vehicle, and it comes across even better in these photos. New wallpaper? Oh yeah.

The Aston Martin Rapide is one of our favorite cars here at CarThrottle, and so is the entire Aston Martin range really. Last year at this time the car still wasn't officially unveiled yet, with the information drop coming at the Geneva Auto Show. A new video shows driving footage of the Rapide through the hills of Valencia, Spain. Beautiful! The latest trend in online automotive advertising is to create "viral" videos, that aren't really viral at all. Still, they make for some entertaining watches sometimes. Aston Martin's newest is for the Cygnet, showing two "free runners" dodging various obstacles to reach a Cygnet. For a few different reasons, we're not sure the point of the video - the Cygnet isn't even going to be available to the public, so what is the point of drumming up interest? This somehow doesn't seem aimed at the traditional Aston Martin audience. Also, if you want to appeal to non-Aston Martin buyers, I think normal Astons will do just fine. Earlier this month, Aston Martin released official details on the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet minicar. The car has been met with howls of dissaproval from Aston Martin purists, and has left many scratching their heads. Regardless, Aston Martin is announcing some measures that should quell some of the worries that people had about the car. First of all, there is one very big barrier for entry: you must already be an Aston Martin owner. That means buyers of the Cygnet will be an exclusive club. That is an important thing, being the Cygnet's relatively small $35,000 asking price could ensure that a new vehicle with the Aston Martin name on it isn't far out of reach for quite a few people. The Rapide has been a car that we've heard about for a long time. It was first previewed by a concept back in 2006, and at the time production was far from a certainty. Then, production was confirmed, the endless drips of information ensued and the rest is history. The official debut with images and specifications came in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Now, pricing information has been released in the United States and for Aston Martin's home market, the United Kingdom. As expected, it isn't cheap - it is an Aston Martin, after all. We're counting down the supercar crash incidents happening recently: the Bugatti Veyron and now infamous "low flying pelican" incident, then a Ferrari California crashes into construction equipment.  Now, footage of a Aston Martin DB9 crashing into a tree in Warsaw, Poland. That makes three. The driver apparently loses control of the vehicle and then it hits into a tree, breaking it in half (!) while careening out of control in the roadway. Pure craziness! It's no secret we're big fans of the Aston Martin Rapide here at CarThrottle so when new information about it comes out, we're sure to cover it. Like the other Aston Martins in the current lineup, the Rapide is a beautiful vehicle and every bit a proper Aston, four doors or not. The competition could learn a thing or two from it! After what seemed like endless waiting....and waiting and waiting, the Aston Martin Rapide's launch is finally upon us. Aston Martin was content to let little bits of information out about the car leak out, in a similar fashion to way the launch of the One-77 was handled. The Lagonda division of Aston Martin hasn't been in the news for a while but it has surfaced again with revelations that the project could be on hold. Aston Martin aim for creating the Lagonda brand was to increase volume and help the company enter markets it couldn't (or didn't want to) enter with the Aston Martin brand name. Lagonda was and will continue to be a good idea if executed right. Problem was, no one knew when the reintroduction was announced what vehicle would wear the Lagonda name.
