TuningWerk Offers Supercar-like Performance From….A BMW 7-Series?

01tuningwerkbmw7

217 mph, in a BMW 7-Series? 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds? Forget about the M5, this is the M7 BMW never has produced. These numbers have been made possible by the aftermarket, in what truly amounts to a four-door super car. The work has been done by German company TuningWerk. There are two packages available, impressive and insane. The first is what the company calls "small scale power augmentation." That package brings power up to 530 horsepower and torque to 545 pound feet, on its way to a top speed of 192 mph. Acceleration is down by .7 from the fastest model, to 4.2 seconds. For stopping power, an upgraded HighPerformance steel braking system is fitted. The full monte takes power up to 720 horsepower

BMW Prices Six-Cylinder 7-Series

The North American International Auto Show has been dominating the news as expected, particularly with releases from General Motors and Ford. However, some other (more mundane) things are continuing to happen as well. That includes BMW introducing pricing information for the new six-cylinder 7-Series at the show. If you were expecting the new six-cylinder to be cheap (first of all, why were you - this is BMW we're talking about), that isn't the case. But, it does offer a nice reduction on the price for those who don't need the extra power of BMW's 400 horsepower V-8 engine. The last time a six-cylinder was available in a BMW 7-Series was in 1992. The six is available in both standard and extended length versions, coming in at $71,025 and

Official: BMW 5-Series

The new BMW 5-Series is officially here! Yesterday we got a glimpse through some leaked images, and before that the utterly unrevealing (but still entirely cool anyway) kinetic sculpture video from BMW. The full information drop on the car has arrived, and we're here to cover it. Say hello to generation six of the critically-acclaimed 5-Series lineage, codenamed "F10". Stylistically, BMW has taken a step back from the Bangle-look, but perhaps not as much as the new 7-Series and 5-Series GT do. It follows the same template as those cars mentioned, but with a few detail differences in the headlights and rear-end that set it apart. There are also some hints of the BMW CS Concept in the design. The front is closer in overall

BMW 7-Series M Sport Photos Leak

Around the beginning of this month pictures of a new BMW 7-Series model were captured while testing. The car in these pictures was a bit different then the standard 7-Series model, and speculation ensued. Was it the long-awaited and rumored M7? Some even speculated it being the hybrid 7-Series. It turns out that the car captured was neither. There will be a hybrid 7-Series th0ugh. The hybrid model has been recently caught testing as well and will debut as the 755ih. New pictures have surfaced today that clear up the confusion; the car in the spyshots was the 7-Series M Sport. Sadly, true performance fans will have to wait another day for an M7. The M6 model is set to continue as BMW's largest performance car. I'm a big fan of the BMW 7-Series as

Hyundai Equus Caught Live

News about Hyundai's Equus sedan just keeps pouring on out! At this point, I'd be more shocked to hear it's not coming to the United States. A user on Flickr has posted pictures of the Equus, and wow it's nice! Apparently Alex Krafcik, the photographer taking these pictures, got to take pictures of the vehicle inside and out. I wonder how he was able to do that in a residential setting and everything like that? I'm going to have to ask and see! I just want to say though; what a phenomenal job with these pictures. Detail shots, interior shots; everything looks superb. The Equus looks even better in "real life" pictures then it does in automaker-supplied press shots. An upscale design to be sure, it's very upscale

2010 BMW 760i Packs Twin Turbo V12!

Way to buck the trend, BMW. Most every luxury manufacturer these days are downsizing their engine offerings and  making their cars more efficient - I mean, Bentley has a car that runs (to 204mph!) on E85 bioethanol!  Lexus has their hybrid flagship, the LS600hL - then there's the new Merc S400 hybrid, diesel Audi A8's, etc.  So it's refreshing to see BMW introduce a new top-of-the-line engine for their top-of-the-line car: especially since it's a twin turbo V12. Slotting about BMW's weird twin-turbo V8 in the 7-series lineup, this 12-cylinder powerhouse is a very modern engine.  Construction is all aluminum, and the V12 has 6.0L of displacement at it's disposal.  Fuel delivery is of course via precise direct injection, and two turbochargers (mounted on the outside
