I normally can comfortably say I understand the automotive industry pretty well. Sometimes, though, that sense of security shows through as being a little thin, a little optimistic.  It's times like this where I raise my hands and profess, "I don't get it." What the world really needed was a hatchback BMW 5-series. Apparently.  And the good news is, now we have one!  These are the first official (leaked) photos of the upcoming BMW 5-series GT (GranTurismo), which is... a 5-door 5-series hatchback! Hello, next-generation 5-series! As I expected, the BMW 5-Series GT Progressive Activity Vehicle concept was an extremely close production preview of the actual vehicle, and of the look for the whole new 5-Series lineup. I'm seeing this as a huge improvement over the current car's design. It all works together very well and it tones things down in the weirdness department. Much more traditional BMW. There's nothing wrong with that either. I'm glad to see 7-series influence like I had hoped. I also see a bit of CS Concept in there, and it makes for a really nice mix. Talk about a barrage of teasers and leaks today! Following release of details and information on BMW's 5-Series Gran Turismo concept, an image of what looks to be the production BMW 5-series has surfaced.    That is the full image of the car spotted on BimmerPost, a BMW fans and forum website. It's very similar to what we've seen with the Gran Turismo concept and BMW 7-Series, like I expected. As I said earlier, accuracy of the is image isn't guaranteed. It does however coincide nicely with recent information, including this image of the car's bumper below.   So if that's the new 5-Series, I like it! Or at least the front end. BMWBlog has leaked the first actual pictures of BMW's 5-Series Gran Turismo (GT) Concept! Dubbed to be in the "Progressive Activity Sedan", the 5-Series GT Concept joins some other recent weird segment blurring vehicles (X6, I'm looking at you).  Say hello to the next generation 5-Series ! I'm pleased to see that it's styled in the mould of BMW's recent 7-Series sedan. Smart move BMW, I love the 7-Series! This is very thinly guised, expect to see this in extremely similar production form. The interior, other then the details and coloring, looks to be production as well. In fact, very little (if anything) is changed to the center stack and dash area. It's certainly an odd vehicle, taking inspiration from the sedan, wagon and SUV segments. I wonder how it
