I have a 1984 built in november 1983. I have owned it since 1990.
Yes I have had minor problems especially electrical, but oh when it all comes together it is a great little car and lots of fun.

I am also interested in more info on the large ground cable fix??

Thank you for the great history lesson. I personally own a 1987 Biturbo Si that I purchased new and today only has 16,000 miles on it. It is still a blast to drive and the interior, you are correct, is a 10 out of 10. The electrical issues were bothersome but finally after 20+ years I found a mechanic that solved it with a oversized grounding cable. Amazing, it fixed ALL the intermittent problems. I am curious if you know how many of my Si models in 1987 made it to the states? I assume very few as I have never seen another and I am in California where many exotics live....
Thanks again.

Thanks for this great retrospective! My memories include mouth-drooling around maybe 1987 -- my best friend managed to finance a biturbo (don't recall if it was new -- I think it might have had about 10-20K miles on it) ... at the time we were avid R&T readers and recalled the road test in which they loved the car but flagged the extremely twitchy fishtailing that could occur during hard braking (before the abs days). Sure enough, going too fast when a car pulled out in front of him, my friend hit the brakes, the car fishtailed just like the R&T review described, and he found himself with a totaled car. It was fast, beautiful inside, and exotic. Miss those days...

I have to say I'm Italian and owned a few Maserati's in my time. True that these cars had issues but man they're fun. There's something about them thats hard to describe in words.
