Prodrive Subaru Impreza N2010

Ah, Prodrive. Back when Subaru contested the World Rally Championship with a factory effort, England’s Prodrive was that “factory”. They also do their racing efforts, like run Aston Martins at Le Mans and occasionally try to nose into F1, but what they really do well is rally cars. Take for example the Prodrive Subaru Impreza N2010.

The Prodrive Subaru Impreza N2010, as the name would imply, is for the Group N category of rallying. Prodrive’s latest ride is homologated to the production-based Group N specs, and the Impreza N2010 features a rather nifty twin-scroll-turbocharger mounted to a two-liter boxer four that also has competition-spec fuel injectors, catalyst and ECU.

Bottom line on the dyno is an extra 20 horsepower over the stock machine and you’ll also get a wider torque band. Handy, no? Prodrive has, as one would expect, worked over the suspension as well. The Subaru Impreza N2010 rides along on adjustable Ohlins suspension, very nice, and those are pretty much the benchmark for rally shocks.

Prodrive has also gone over the diffs, with uprated front, center and rear differentials. Whoaing the whole assemblage up is done via AP Racing brakes. And as one would expect, there’s a beefy reinforced, FIA-certified roll cage.

Prodrive says that their Subaru Impreza N2010 is a more competitive package compared to a Super 2000-spec rally car, but at a considerable cost savings (relatively speaking). The Impreza N2010 rings out at about half the price of a Super 2000 rally car. The starting price for the Prodrive ride is £120,000 (about $195k). No that’s not cheap, but racing isn’t an inexpensive pastime, now is it? If you want to lease, Prodrive offers a two year lease option.
