Mitsubishi RVR Introduced in Japan
Often times, many good products are introduced in other markets that never make their way over to the United States.
That is starting to change lately – for instance, Ford bringing over its European small car the Fiesta and General Motors giving Buick the Insignia in the form of the new Regal.
Mitsubishi is introducing a new vehicle now in Japan – and , they are confirming it will be sold in other markets – including ours, right out of the gate.
The new model is dubbed RVR, and is a small sports “crossover”. It looks sort of like a small hatchback, and is based on the same Mitsubishi’s global platform that also underpins the Lancer and Outlander.
However, it is over a foot shorter than the Outlander. The small size should make a good fit for its all-new 1.8L MIVEC 4-cylinder engine – although horsepower figures haven’t been released.
The RVR is something new and different, and I’m sure it should be an entertaining drive, especially in performance Ralliart guise.
The RVR is scheduled to go on sale first in Japan next spring. No word on when it is coming to the U.S, but given the official confirmation, it shouldn’t be too long of a wait.

YAY MITSUBISHI!
I am really liking the way Mitsubishi has applied this new front fascia treatment. It’s totally grown on me. There is a real feeling that, despite many models are being based on the same platform (cough-their own-cough), they are still unique and yet obviously Mitsu.
Combined with the i-MiEV (hybrid and electric) and Colt coming Stateside in the near future, I think Mitsubishi is on the right track.
