Alright all you greeny tree huggers out there, time to start quaking in your boots again, because it looks like the Hummer ain’t dead, and there’s new details on the upcoming models. Yeah, I know, it was never really dead in the first place, General Motors unload – er, SOLD it to a Chinese outfit a little bit ago, and of course the Chinese are going to keep build them.

It seems that the latest iteration of the small Hummer (tell me that doesn’t sound like a contradiction in terms), the H3 will feature a flex-fuel variant, due in 2010. Supposedly this will roll out on the H3, and then the other existing models, the H1 and H2 will go flex fuel soon thereafter. Although they didn’t say, I’m assuming this will include the H1. GM sold that to the Chinese too, right? They’re still capable of making them, right?

Anyway … it seems that the plant they will be bestowing the E85 capability to is the largest and most powerful one that Hummer has, the 5.3-liter V8 and not the latest and slightly more fuel efficient top-level Alpha series inline-five. So if you’re thinking of buying a new Hummer, and go with the V8 option you’ll get 300 horsepower, 320 lb-ft of torque and the capability to run on ethanol if you so desire.

“This is just the first step in Hummer’s evolution to offer responsible, yet highly capable all-terrain vehicles. Future models will be lighter, more efficient and will continue to offer the best blend of off-road capability and on-road performance,” said Hummer CEO James Taylor.

And if that’s not enough for you, the 2010 Hummer H3 and H3T (that would be the pick up variant) will come in three new premium exterior colors: Red Rock Metallic, Silver Stone Metallic, and Canyon Metallic.
