Toyota GT 86 Speedster: Massive Spoiler + Remove Roof = Win

GT86 Speedster 1

Even when Toyota first set about designing the GT 86, they foresaw the unprecedented clamor from tuners to make their mark on the eagerly anticipated coupe. Hence, in Japan, for a whopping £10k less than the UK’s pretty well specced version, you can by a “blank canvas” RC spec’ GT 86 with steel wheels, no airbags and a huge hole in the dashboard where the air-con and stereo should be. There aren’t even any speakers. Further still, the bumpers, wing mirrors and door handles make do with only a coat of primer. Yikes. Californian coach-builder Cartel Customs (say that five times quickly...) has taken Toyota’s encouragement to heart, by going quite literally “above and beyond” what anyone might have expected. They chopped the roof

Ferrari 458 Limited Edition: “Enter The Dragon-Horse”

Ferrari 458 Longma from above

It's been twenty years since Ferrari first sold a supercar in China and to celebrate trading in this ever-growing market (as Rolls-Royce will kindly attest to), the Italian firm has set up a brand exhibition at the Italia Center of Shanghai World Expo Park which will last three years. They will also be bringing twenty pieces of history with them, including a special edition 458 exclusive to China. If I'm honest, it's nothing like a special edition Lamborghini Gallardo. The Gallardo Valentino Balboni had mechanical changes such as rear-wheel drive and weight reduction as well as a big white stripe that travelled from the front to the back via the interior. These Fezzas are no different mechanically but they do come with some cultural touches.

Porsche Cayenne GTS: A Pimp-Wagon On Speed

Porsche Cayenne GTS-3

If you were to travel back in time and tell the men who designed the very first Land Rovers, Jeeps and the like that one day in the not-too-distant future you’d be able to buy, at great expense no less, a 4x4 thats raison d'être is to be as fast as possible on road, they’d either keel over backwards, or punch you very hard in the face. Personally, I’d hope for the former. Nevertheless, Porsche have today announced the racy Cayenne GTS, mixing a slightly uprated version of the base S model’s 4.8-litre V8 with the “in-yer-face” styling cues of the almighty Turbo. The motor kicks out 420bhp to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic ‘box, enabling the weighty behemoth to

Justin Bieber’s Fisker Karma: Chrome and Purple LEDs, Baby

Justin Bieber Fisker Karma rear

Remember when Master Bieber received his brand new car for his 18th birthday? Of course you do. It was the day that Fisker's image went down the toilet, to me anyway. The American brand however can breathe a sigh of relief because purchasing a Karma is now cool again thanks to Bieber's desire to pimp-his-mobile. Brace yourself, it isn't pretty. The big change is the colour. Originally it was a subtle black paint job but now it is plastered in in-your-face chrome vinyl. Not the coolest thing in the world in my eyes but a chrome once over is just like Marmite. It's either loved or hated. Then there are the alloys. Credit where credit is due, I quite like them. They make the Fisker

Arsenal FC Players Citroen DS5

NY 2012: Acura RLX Concept

RLX2

Acura's flagship sedan, the RL, has always been the big luxury car for the uniquely-minded individual.  Someone who doesn't need a V8 in their top line status symbol; who'd rather have torque-vectoring AWD and VTEC.  Or who doesn't want their big luxury car to actually be big inside.  Unfortunately for Acura, all three of those people already bought an RL.  This fact shows up in the RL's sales figures: Acura sold just over a thousand of them in the US last year - making it rarer than the Gallardo or Continental GT.  With the TL sedan offering almost all the tech and power for a fraction the price, it's no big shock.  Something had to be done. The rumor has been circulating around for ages

This Subaru Impreza Is On The Right Track…

tracksubaru

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you replaced the wheels of your car with tank-tracks? No, me neither. But that shouldn’t stop us from reveling in the sheer audacity of this fully “tracked” 196,000 mile (blimey!) 2002 Subaru Impreza that popped up on eBay the other day. “WOW!” reads the typically enthusiastic American ad’, “You are looking at what may be only the SECOND tracked WRX in the history of the world. In all of our research we have not been able to find any other tracked WRX. Just this one, and Ken Block’s. Ken Block’s car is rumored (sic) to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. This one can be yours for only $17,500!”. What a steal! Gymkhana king Ken Block’s

NY 2012: Jaguar F-Type, Because F Comes After D and E.

Jaguar F-Type badge

We've mentioned the Jaguar C-X16 concept at least five times during Car Throttle's existence. Now here's another shout-out as the production version of Jaguar's smallest sports car, so far, has been been given the name F-Type plus we have pictures of the convertible version hidden in disguise. Yes, the name doesn't quite tie in to the British firm's current line up of the XF, XF Sportbrake, XK and XJ. However, the car is the successor to the E-Type Jag and the E-Type came after the D-Type and so on. Director of Design, Ian Callum said, "The C-type, D-type and E-type Jaguars were all sports cars that held true to this principle in their era, and the F-TYPE will hold true to that same principle in its

NY 2012: There’s No Dodging New Viper

2013-dodge-viper_100387335_m

Stateside sports cars love a drop of poison. But forget your Hennessey Venoms or Shelby Cobras: 2012 is Dodge's Year of the Snake, with the unveiling of the ballistic new Viper. This isn't just a reskinned concept either, what you're feasting your eyes on is the full-blooded production spec model, with carbon fibre and aluminium body panels, a steel frame 50% stiffer than the old car's, and an even more mental evolution of the Viper's legendary V10 motor strapped down in the front, under that slashed and sculpted bonnet. Breathing in through triple vents, and out via a trademark side-exit exhaust, the SRT Viper is the new king of America's 'no replacement for displacement' muscle car philosophy. The EIGHT POINT FOUR LITRE V10 kicks out 638

Why Footballers Should Be Banned From Buying Cars

cristiano-ronaldo-crash-ferrari-599

Let’s face it; premiership footballers have it pretty damn good. Even though I possess the hand-eye coordination of a drunken infant (my footwork skills are roughly on par with those of an amputee) and the fact I’d be more likely to start ovulating than actually score a goal, let alone even get near the ball, I always thought that a career as a professional footballer was the way to go. If not for the sport, but for the money. If not for the money, then for the money-grabbing ladies. When you’re earning hundreds upon thousands of pounds every week, I’m not sure you really give a damn about what average folk think about you. Consequently, footballers have the habit of modifying* the most synonymous symbols of
