Scion xB Pickup At SEMA By ADF

File this under "why didn't they think of this before", but a customizer outfit by the name of ADF took the latest Scion xB box, and chopped it into a pickup configuration. Maybe I missed if anyone had done this before, but to me it seems like a no-brainer. Pick ups are just boxes with the upper rear quarter cut out, and here's Scion, with two generations of the xB urbo-box under its belt, and it's taken someone this long to get out the saws-all and get to work. ADF, which stands for Advanced Design Fabricators by the way, took a formerly stock Scion xB (a car that at best I could call "practical") and gave it a hell of a chop, as well as a mild

SEMA 2009: Jay Leno Camaro

You know you're a big name in the car industry when you have a car concept by a big manufacturer named after you. That is exactly the case with one of General Motors' Camaro concepts at SEMA, dubbed simply the Jay Leno Camaro. As expected, the Jay Leno Camaro is far more than just an appearance package being powered by the standard 3.6L direct injection V-6. Wait, what? Might have caused a double take there. The car has a pair of Turbonetics T3 turbochargers that provide about seven pounds of boost to the car's engine, making 425 horsepower along the way. To go along with the turbo system, there is a Be-Kool radiator, custom exhaust system, as well as a clutch and pressure plate supplied by Centerforce for

SEMA 2009: Chevrolet Camaro Dusk Concept

With the Camaro setting an excellent sales pace it's no wonder that the musclecar is being featured heavily for General Motors' SEMA offerings. There are five official Camaro concepts brought to the show by GM. One of those is the Camaro Dusk. Bob Lutz has mentioned an executive edition Camaro in the past, and the Dusk fits the bill. The Camaro Dusk ups the luxury quotient significantly, with a Boston Avoustics sound system, technology upgrades inside, and high-end leather. The color scheme combination is particularly striking! Todd Parker, design manager for's  GM Accessory Studio says about the Dusk: "This is a car with an international flair, bringing the Camaro to a place it hasn't traditionally been...it is a very tailored look that is stylish and sophisticated, but with

SEMA 2009: Lincoln MKT Panache Concept

You never quite know what to expect at SEMA - there is a variety of concepts at the show that span the different segments. Lincoln in particular has a big presence at the show for a luxury automaker, with special models for the MKS, MKZ and MKT. The MKT is perhaps the most interesting of the trifecta. The MKT Crossover recently had its week stay at CarThrottle for evaluation and the results came back quite good. The Lincoln MKT Panache concept has been created by Rick Bottom, owner of Rick Bottom Designs. He fell in love with the stunning MKT Concept and decided to customize the production version after seeing it at the Chicago International Auto Show. Unlike some SEMA concepts, the modifications really work on

Ford Adds 6.2L V8, XT Race Trim to 2010 SVT Raptor

Generally speaking, I think the SEMA show is pretty much a pile of garbage. I mean, who really wants to pay a lot of money, travel to the middle of the desert, and walk around a warehouse filled with orange blinged-up Lexii with Lambo Doorz?  You can count me out on that one. But one can't ignore that SEMA is getting bigger and bigger by the year, and at this point it's actually a launch-bed for some manufacturer debuts.  So while I combed through pages and pages of useless crap SEMA debuts today, I found something I actually liked. Ford chose SEMA as the place to debut two new version of their F-150 Baja Racer Special, which they call the SVT Raptor.  We've covered Ford's badass desert-runner here

Dodge Challenger Gets The Mopar Treatment For SEMA

Wicked. That's what me and my friends would have said way back when about the new Dodge Challenger you see here that's been loaded down with nearly $12,000 worth of Mopar goodies for the SEMA show. Sure, not all of them are go fast parts, but back in the day, a car like this was something not to be trifled with. See, even though I'm a sportscar guy, and grew up in a sportscar family most of my friends, hell, everybody around me, was all about American muscle. And when you got down to it, arguing about who was better, Ford or Chevy was simply arguing over second place. If you were serious about your racing, and in this case, that would be drag racing, there

Live Photos of Lingenfelter 455 T/A Concept

The first images of the Lingenfelter 455 T/A Concept were released just a few days ago. Now, live pictures of the vehicle are coming out ahead of the car's official launch at SEMA. Lingenfelter is one of a few different companies like ASC that are working to provide aftermarket conversions of the Chevrolet Camaro to Firebird enthusiasts. The look translates over just as well in real life as it does in the renderings. The front looks like a slightly modified 1970s Trans Am. In the back, the rear has been extended by almost 4 inches and the taillights are custom made. The interior has seen a few tweaks as well, with blue woven vinyl seat inserts and metal accents on the instrument panel. Some of the official statistics
