Picture 3

This picture – taken in Modena, Italy, on the weekend – is enough to make every petrolhead’s skin crawl. Yes, that’s a £1m, 950bhp Ferrari LaFerrari and yes, that’s a lorry parked in its rear.

Thankfully, however, there are two saving graces; 1) the damage is almost certainly repairable (hopefully there’s not too much damage to the hypercar’s carbonfibre) and 2) none of the parties were injured in the making of this Ferrari vs truck sandwich.

You really have to feel for the truck driver. No prizes for guessing which one he is in the picture…

What’s all that white stuff on the side?

I was wondering the same. New cars have a white strip similar to the one on the side of this laferrari to protect the paint whilst its transported between the factory and the dealership. However, as this is being driven on the road, I doubt thats the case.

New cars during testing, before they are even released to the public also have all sorts of random covers on them to confuse the viewer so you cannot make out the shape of the body work. They keep you guessing until the car is officially released – we don’t know how old this photo is. The covers are usually over the whole car though.

Or it could simply be a protective film put on by the owner to protect the paintwork from chips. However I would expect the film to be either red or clear if that was the case.

Those are three possibilities, but personally I think this is probably a protective film put on by the manufacturer and the car is being driven on the road on a test drive either by a potential customer or someone from a magazine doing a piece on it.
